Images Intensed Pulsed Light Hair Removal Treatments
April 2006 “Images” purchased the iPulse 300, a 4th Generation Intense Pulsed Light Machine, which is able to offer alternative treatments for Permanent Hair Reduction,
- Intense Pulsed Light – commonly called IPL is very similar to Laser, using light to penetrate and treat dark hairs inside skin.
- The white light used in IPL is just like that of an ordinary light bulb, but at much higher energy levels (intense) in a very short flash (pulsed). The flash of intense light penetrates the skin and it is only when it is absorbed by a dark coloured substance that heat is generated, i.e. inside a dark hair. The heat is only felt for a fraction of a second then it cools
- Imagine a black car and a white car put out into the sun after being a garage – the black car will immediately heat up whereas the white car will take some time to heat up – this is the same principle as black hairs inside your skin
- The heated hair will fall out after a next few weeks (called purging)
- IPL in very low energy levels will do little or nothing to the translucent skin.
- 3 to 6 treatments are usually required to achieve excellent results
- As Hair becomes finer energy levels may need to be increased
- Darker skin types may require more treatments due to more a cautious procedure required
Consultations
It is necessary to have a consultation before any Intense Pulsed Light treatment will be given. During the consultation we will be establishing your medical history and skin type to determine your suitability for IPL treatments.
We will also be discussing exactly how IPL works and how many treatments will be required for your needs.
Allow 60 mins. Minimum cost $50. Includes 1-3 trial patches / pulses
Treatment Plan
We are able to offer a permanent hair reduction program using Intense Pulsed Light.
This means that in most cases the majority of hair will not return after a short series of treatment.
This course of treatment varies from person to person, but will usually be about 6 – 8 regular sessions possibly about a month to three months apart.
The hair that is going to disappear for good will usually stop growing within this initial course, with any residual hair growth being finer, softer, lighter in colour and re-growing at a dramatically slower rate.
This residual hair growth can be left alone, or you can have occasional maintenance treatments, which can vary from a few months apart to once a year.
The degree of hair loss and the time taken to get results will vary from person to person as there are many factors that can influence hair growth.
For maximum results you need to follow the initial course regularly as recommended by your therapist.
Darker Skin Clients will need very carefully treatment as the light can easily burn your skin and we therefore have to use much gentler treatment – which means we may need more sessions to achieve results.
Clients with hormonal disorders can have this treatment but long term results are guaranteed as hormones may re-stimulate hair growth. |
